The Crafty Shrimp

My crafting adventures in fabric, clay and more…

About me May 3, 2007

eva1.jpgA Dutch girl with international roots, I’ve lived in France, The Netherlands, Scotland and Japan I’ve now set up home in Basel since Oct ’06. I enjoy crafting in many shapes and forms from knitting, felting, sewing, pottery and making random small things. Living in all those countries has given me a number of different influences in my crafting. Unfortunately, there never seems to be enough time to do everything as I have too many projects!  But here I am slowly making stuff as I go along. I also enjoy food/cooking a lot and have a second blog (the original one) dedicated to that so please check out The Golden Shrimp if you’re interested.

    Hi Eva!
Did you ever figure out how to properly fuse the plastic bags? I seem to be having the same troubles you were.
    😦

I’m SO ready to make something out of fused plastic bags!

    Hi Jacki,
I haven’t given it a try again, but from the comments on the Etsy tutorial (http://etsylabs.blogspot.com/2007/05/long-overdue-fusing-plastic-bag.html) I get the feeling it’s just a matter of finding the right setting on your iron. As we have a very cheapy one, I think I might just not be able to regulate it well enough. I seem to either warp everything or can’t get it to fuse 😦 I also think the setting you need to use differs for different kinds of bags.

I guess it’s a matter of patience which I’m in general a bit short on when there’s lots of other projects around 😉 good luck and let me know how you get on!

  4. Eva Says:

Thank you, glad you like it. I was lucky enough to live and work in Tokyo for 4 months in the summer of 2005. Absolutely loved the place and wish I could have stayed longer…would love to go back some day and live there for a few years!

    Hi there!

Just discovered both your blogs! I’m the editor of a new online magazine for expats in Switzerland (www.expatica.ch) which will be launching tomorrow. Right now I’m looking for possible contributing bloggers and I thought that perhaps you might be interested… A post about cooking or food in Switzerland would be great and if you don’t have time to write a new one, it could possibly be one which you’ve already published on your site. Please let me know if you’re interested!

P.S. I just moved here from Tokyo last year- when did you live there?

Hello there! Please tell me you still live in Basel! That would make my day! I am a Hungarian girl, lived in Chicago, Barcelona ( and of course in beatuiful Budapest 😉 ) now in a month time we are moving to Basel. At the moment I am lost… And a bit unmotivated. And lost with garbage disposing 😉
